What do I need for fishing?

  • Mine's Bigger than Yours Personal Saltwater fishing license
  • Rubber Boots
  • Rain Gear
  • Warm Clothing (layers)
  • Sunglasses, Hat, Sunscreen
  • Lunch & Drinks (arrangements can be made to provide a lunch for a small fee)
  • Motion Sickness measures as needed
  • Personal gear such as camera, camcorder, binoculars…

Where do I get my fishing license?
You can purchase a saltwater license through our local “everything” store Meegan’s Store Ltd. or online at Fisheries and Oceans Canada Recreational Licensing.

Do I give a gratuity to the guide?
This is completely up to you.  This is a service provided to you.  If you like what you get then a gratuity is given based on your level of happiness.

Ready for LandingWhat is the weather like?
As anywhere else the weather is not predictable.  That being said we have a link on our home page so you can see current conditions.  Please keep in mind we are a coastal community surrounded by the Pacific Ocean hence we get rain year round with the majority received in the winter months.

How do we get to Haida Gwaii/Queen Charlotte Islands?

By Air
Air Canada flies daily from Vancouver International Airport to Sandspit.

North Pacific Sea Planes flies directly from Prince Rupert to Queen Charlotte.

Pacific Coastal Airlines flies from Vancouver to Masset.

By Sea
BC Ferries provides regular scheduled trips to the Islands from Prince Rupert year round. Connector service is available in Prince Rupert for the Inside Passage route to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island or north with Alaska's Marine Ferry System.

How do we get to Queen Charlotte from Sandspit Airport?
The airport shuttle will pick you up at the airport and transport you to your accommodations in Queen Charlotte.
