Haida Gwaii is situated approximately 120 km off the coast of British Columbia,
which is smack dab in the middle of the
best fishing grounds off the coast of both
Canada and the United States. The variety
and quality of the catch makes this area a
highly sought after destination for avid
anglers. Name your quarry and we’ll
help you catch it.
For Saltwater fishing, the accommodations
in the village of Queen Charlotte are all
within walking distance of our marina.
We meet there in the morning, and then
travel to the west coast through the scenic
and exciting Skidegate Narrows. Once
there, we can target the fish of your choice.
Pacific Salmon and Halibut tend to be the
most sought after species and you will find
these here like nowhere else in the world.
For freshwater fishing, we provide custom
packages for steelhead or cutthroat trout.
To help you plan your visit, the following
table identifies the most popular types of
fish and the months you are most likely to catch them in this area.
Contact us for more specific information on the fish of your choice or check our website for seasonal up dates.

Our Boat
You will be riding aboard a 21ft Bayliner
Trophy with Yamaha 4 stroke outboards.
These engines are both quiet and non-
polluting with none of the smoke or noise
associated with many 2 stroke engines.
Our boat also has a deep V-hull which
allows for a smooth and comfortable ride.
The boat is equipped with a cuddy cabin
for your comfort as well as a soft top
which encloses front seats and allows for shelter from the elements. There is a
porta potty in the cuddy cabin.
The boat is stocked with safety equipment, first aid kit, and built in coolers filled daily with fresh ice to maintain the quality of your catch.
Our Gear
West Coast Salmon fishing and single
action mooching or “knuckle busters” are
almost synonymous. These reels and the
long rods to which they are matched allow
you to “feel” every action that the fish
takes, from the initial hookset, through
long runs, to the eventual landing. At
Gwaii Horizon Adventure Guides we are
committed to the best and our equipment
is chosen because it provides the most
direct and most enjoyable link to the fish.
We choose, Islander MR3 mooching reels,
101/2 ft mooching rods and Scotty electric
downriggers to ensure that you enjoy everything these fish are capable of giving.
For Halibut and Bottom Fish, we break out some heavy gear, better suited to persuade these big fish to leave their bottom dwelling haunts. Short heavy action rods with level wind reels and braided Kevlar line are the order of the day when searching our waters for what might be the next world record sport caught Halibut.
